Since we're at it here, I live in Washington State and I can tell you that Sedro Woolley does not have a hyphen in it and there is no city named Alderwood Manor-Bothell North. That might be an area but Alderwood is an area named after the local mall and Bothell is.....well, Bothell. Although Bothell spans 2 counties, There is no North Bothell, South Bothell, West Bothell or East Bothell or anything in between. It's just.....Bothell.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. Who'd a thunk that I could get some "field checking" done via this forum! Actually, I should have stated that the source I used was a list/location of places, not necessarily cities. But it's good to learn that one of these has no hyphens. Thanks!

Actually, I happen to live in Sedro-Woolley, and there IS a hyphen.

Wow! 7 months later and I'm still getting replies to this post. Susie, Unfortunately, as of last week, I no longer am employed by the mapping company. After 19 years of being there, they showed me the door. They're closing up shop in a couple of months. Too many Google and Mapquest users and not enough folks buying REAL paper maps that DON'T give false directions. So the fact that your city DOES have a hyphen doesn't really compute in my universe anymore. Thanks for the info though.

I actually found this while I was googling "cities with hyphens" yesterday. I just wanted to make sure anyone else who did the same search knew that Sedro-Woolley was on the list. We may be small but we deserve to have our name spelt correctly.
